2010 was an important year for the Danish Jewish Museum. In November the Danish Heritage Agency sent a letter with the news that the museum had been given the status of a state-subsidized museum from January 1, 2011. Per aspera ad astra.

The museum has worked towards this goal since it applied to the Danish Heritage Agency for this status in 2006. The board of the museum was overwhelmed by all the many congratulations from friends and collaborators, Danish as well as international.

Shortly before this gratifying news, in October 2010, the museum published the book Ikke noget at tale om. Danske jøders krigsoplevelser 1943-1945  [Nothing to Speak of, The Wartime Experiences of the Danish Jews 1943-1945] by Sofie Lene Bak with an afterword by Bjarke Følner.

The book was well received by the press and by the many people who had made it possible by donating both their personal accounts and objects to the collections of the museum. The book was short-listed for the historical book of the year prize sponsored by the Dansk Historisk Fællesråd [Danish Historical Union].  By the end of 2010, the book was found in100 Danish public libraries,and 2000 copies had been sold.
